Koro © 2014

Based on a real event, this is the fictionalized account of three Marines inadvertently left behind on the Fijian island of Koro following a four-day rehearsal there in late July 1942 by the First Marine Division for its landing on Guadalcanal scheduled for one week later. The screenplay dramatizes the cultural interplay between the three Marines and the Fijian villagers and the chance discovery 60 years later by an American visitor of one of the Marines who had opted to remain secretly on the island and marry a local girl following the return of the other two to their unit on Guadalcanal.
